About 70 community partners, poets and Five Points residents enjoyed delicious food from Welton St. Café, the Rolling Pin, Coffee at the Point and great beer at Spangalang in September. It was all part of a special event with Busboys and Poets, a restaurant in Washington, D.C. Poets from D.C. and Nuba Slam Poetry shared their talents with the audience.
One of the highlights was a performance by Denver’s own Theo Wilson, Slam Nuba Champion.
The name Busboys and Poets refers to American poet Langston Hughes, who worked as a busboy at the Wardman Park Hotel in the 1920s, prior to gaining recognition as a poet.
There’s a plan in the works to open another Busboys and Poets in historic Five Points. Exciting news! Five Points is the perfect place for Busboys and Poets.
And there could be anongoing Open Mic Night at the Rossonian in the near future. Stay tuned!
